The awarding ceremony of the European Tree of the Year 2011 Contest will take place in Bruxelles, on 25th May 2011, starting at 7:00 PM, at the IUNC headquarter, Louis Schmidt Bld. nr. 64.
The promoted goal of the contest is to find “the most beloved tree” in Europe but the real purpose is to draw the attention of the general public to their local, natural heritage. In this regard, the main outcome of the contest is the interesting stories of trees and the Europeans who care about trees and public places.
The winner of this year that will be awarded at the ceremony is the lime tree from Leliceni, Romania, that won the Romanian Contest in 2010, organized by the Romanian Environmental Partnership Foundation (www.repf.ro).
The event is organized by Nadace Partnerstvi in cooperation with the IUCN.
